Covid 19 Update 9 Dec

Te Hopai: Covid-19 (Coronavirus) updated guidelines and advice #26

Good News!

Today we are delighted to tell you that we will be extending our visiting hours. This has been made possible with the installation of our new ‘Thermoscanner’ as well as the sign in/out programme (which I think you will all be used to now). The scanner automatically temperature checks people coming into both the reception areas and automatically alerts us if someone has a temperature above 37.5˚, allowing us to stop the potential for cross-infection to our residents in its tracks.

The ‘thermoscanner’ still has to be ‘paid for’ and we are continuing to fundraise to help us do this. Firstly, thank you to everyone who has already bought raffle tickets, you are supporting our fundraiser and we are grateful for this. If you haven’t yet bought a ticket and want to, these are still available from reception or by emailing Del on delanie@tehopai.co.nz. You have until Monday (14 December) to help with this worthy cause.

So, to the important information. Our doors will now be open between 6am and 7pm, 7 days per week. I’m sure that this will make visiting easier and is timely as we come into the Christmas season.

We do ask that you please continue to use the sign in/sign out system every time you visit as well as using the Government Covid app (if you have it). I know it seems like a hassle but even with the upcoming vaccine, we really do need to stay on our guard and continue to protect our residents and staff from any potential infection.

We continue to ask that you do not visit if you are unwell. This can be with symptoms of a cold or flu (cough, sore throat, elevated temperature) or with gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting). As I have noted before, this pandemic has reinforced for all of us the cost of viruses entering into aged-care facilities and it is the responsibility of all of us to make sure we keep ourselves and our loved ones safe and well. We also remind you to seek guidance from the Covid Healthline (0800 611 116) if your symptoms are flu-like.

We also want to thank you again for your support. We have been blown away by the support we have received from our community and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Thank you once again!
