Covid-19 Update 5 Oct 21

Kia ora koutou

Just a quick update for the week. It looks like we will be in level two restrictions for some time yet and COVID will be something we learn to live with in our community going forward.  The bookings by appointment has been necessary to ensure limited visitors at any time and robust contact tracing. We appreciate this is frustrating for you, but need you to also consider how frustrating it is for our administration team.  We cannot continue to field the huge number of phone calls for last minutes bookings on the day and really need you to please plan ahead, and email before 5pm each day.

From now on we will not be able to accommodate phone bookings on the day.  Please ensure this message is passed to other family and friends who regularly visit our facility.

On this note we are looking at forward planning for the next few months to make things as simple and easy as possible regarding visitors. While we would love to throw our doors open for visits, this is not practical at this stage. As we mentioned last time, we may run differing protocols for fully vaccinated visitors (this would include children over the age of 12).  At this stage we have nothing firm regarding this, but you will notice our swiped on visitor system will ask for your vaccination status when you sign in. We encourage you to share this, but equally will respect your privacy if you choose not to.

For now, we will continue our visits and booking system for remainder of October unless there is a significant change in the COVID situation.

  • Visiting hours remain by appointment only.  The times are 10am, 11 am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Please email Alicia for an appointment that suits you on (Sunday to Thursday) or on Friday.
  • We will continue the two late nights, until 7pm, so you can also book between 5.30 and 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The entrance for these will be at Owen St only, not Hospital Rd.
  • Please make an appointment at least 24 hours in advance, and by email. There is a lot of work behind the scenes by the administration staff and caregivers to ensure that the residents are all in the right place for their visits, so please try and plan as it makes it difficult on everyone with last minute requests.
  • We will take bookings through until 31 October 2021 at this stage.
  • Visiting times are restricted to two people in the resident’s room only. Please do not move around the facility / lounges / kitchens.
  • All visitors are required to wear a face covering at all times, including in the residents room.
  • Please ensure you scan the Covid tracer app and sign in on our visitor system at reception

We also remind you that you should not visit us if you are feeling unwell.

If you wish to take our residents out, we ask that you refrain from going to busy, indoor public venues or anywhere there is more than 10 people.  However you are welcome to take them for a drive, or home and I am sure some are looking forward to a change of scenery.

We again thank you for your support as we continue to care for your loved ones.
