Covid-19 Update 14 Aug

Te Hopai: Covid-19 (Coronavirus) updated guidelines and advice #20

I trust you are well and managing to stay safe. We thought we would update you before the end of the day about our protocols this weekend. Regardless of the government announcement this afternoon, Te Hopai will remain closed to visitors except those who have specific permission to visit (e.g. in the event of imminent death). This is under a directive from Aged Care Association which we support. If you believe that you need to be allowed continued visiting, please contact Jill Kerridge, our Clinical Manager on to discuss your particular circumstance. Please note that we will only be allowing family members to visit (no friends) if you are permitted to do so and that visits will be scheduled. If you have been in Auckland within the last 14 days, please do not visit at this time. If you have any concerns about your health, please remember to call the Healthline on 0800 611 116. If you are wanting to contact your loved ones by skype then you need to email with your Skype name and email address. This will be available between 10 and 4 daily. From now you can request a time for this by phoning or emailing.

If you wish to use other mediums (FaceTime, WhatsApp) this will only be possible if the resident has their own device to use. We are unable to provide Apple products to residents for Facetime or phones for WhatsApp.

If you would like to write a letter to your family member, we will be happy to help with this. Post will still be delivered, or you can email your letter to us. If you email, we will print and give it to them and, if necessary, read it (or postal items) to them. If you would like to do this, please use the email address. We are also allowing items to be dropped off at either reception for residents.

We continue to keep our staff informed about changes to our Covid-19 response plan and the importance of maintaining social distancing in their personal lives.
We are pleased to announce we will have our new visitor management system up and running shortly. We have been testing this today and it has been successful. If you wish to preregister for this, email with your vehicle registration and we will preregister you to speed up your first visit back. Thank you for the donations that have allowed us to invest in this. We are still working towards our goal of thermal scanning. Our raffle items are looking excellent, and we will be waiting for visitors to return before we launch this.

We will continue to update you as the situation evolves. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through the latest Covid-19 challenge.
We remind you that we all need to help prevent or slow the spread of Covid-19.
Thank you again for supporting us as we work to keep us all as safe as we can!
