Te Hopai welcomes new Board Trustees

Lorraine Christie, Chair of Te Hopai Trust Board welcomes three new Board Trustees.

Mary Schumacher NZOM

Mary joined Hospice NZ as CEO in 2006 moving from the role of Chief Executive at Mary Potter Hospice – a role she held for 10 years. Mary holds a Masters in Social Work and previously managed community, rest home and private hospital services for older people.

In 2020 Mary was awarded an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Palliative Care

Andrea McCance

Andrea served as a Trustee of the Mary Potter Hospice Board from 2012 and Chair from 2019. She is a Registered Nurse who previously held the role of Executive Director, Nursing and Midwifery at Capital Coast District Health Board. Andrea has vast experience in healthcare provision. She has held clinical, leadership and governance roles across the New Zealand and Australian health sectors.

Andrea has qualifications in Midwifery, Cardiac Care, a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and Fine Arts), a Post Graduate Diploma in Organisational Behaviour and is currently an adjunct teaching fellow of the Graduate School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health, Victoria University of Wellington. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Rory Mathews

Rory is Managing Partner for Francis Health - a management consultancy specialising in health care.

He has a broad range of health sector experience spanning organisational development with General Practices in East London through to large teaching hospital improvement programmes and central government agencies across the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia. Having been with Francis Health for over 12 years, he supports organisations to deliver sustainable performance improvement by facilitating collaboration and innovation with Clinicians, Managers and Executives.

Rory is currently the interim Director of the Office of the CEO at MidCentral DHB
